Module 3: Projections

 

Back this week with the projections lab! I found this lab material the most interesting so far as I did not know distortions can cause a great difference in maps. I created a layout including the counties in Florida projected in State Plane N, UTM projection. I highlighted Escambia, Polk, Miami-Dade and Alachua counties and labeled each county the same county across the maps to be consistent. The table in the lower right represents the different calculated areas across the projections. Additionally, I recognize the importance of having clear and tidy maps to be user friendly. This is a skill I am working on as I learn to navigate the GIS platform and its tools. Finally, I applied last weeks lessons to include the legend, scale, North arrow, credits and title.
