Module 6: Georeferencing, Editing and 3D

Module 6 brought along a profound learning experience. I struggled some with making my maps correctly while also making them my own. This module we matched two separate images over the UWF campus and matched the buildings  and roads. I added a surveyed bald eagles nest location and created the necessary buffer zone around it. I also added an inset map of where exactly the nest is on the planet.

For the Georeferenced Imagery and overlayed Heritage parcel plans map, I wanted to make the map informative while also being legible and not chaotic. While including the essential map elements, I also added a picture of the integrated Eagle's Nest to personalize my map. As we gain experience and familiarity with the ArcGIS, we also gain more freedom when it comes to map-making. I enjoy exploring all the available tools and searching explanations and tutorials online. I am slowly expanding my knowledge around GIS and the platforms tool. It amazes me what all can be done with GIS. I have also had many conversations with people working in other fields (hospitality and real estate) talking about how they use GIS and the county information.

For the Digital Elevation Model, I tried to be as close as possible while aligning the pictures to the map. As a recovering perfectionist, I felt frustrated while making the DEM map as the overlay was not exact. I prefer a simple map that is also informative so I try to work and play around with the layout. Overall, I am proud of my work and looking forward to our next module.
